A KEY PROJECT AROUND THE CITY OF ZURICH AND THE AIRPORT

A new city district is being created: The idea is to establish the “First District” as a Global Business Area that will play a role as a key city development project in the Glattal region and at Zurich airport. The new business district will be a hub that links the urban centres “Zurich airport” and “Zurich city”, and functions as a magnet to attract businesses to establish a foothold here.

Diligence and responsibility: A study was commissioned in the context of which eight renowned Swiss architects and planning offices were invited to identify the key aspects and requirements of spatial and urban planning:  crucial indicators were lifecycle assessment, the environment, the economy, urban development and the overall architectural concept.

Integrated development: The business community, the public sector, policy makers and potential users are informed of and included in the ongoing development and planning activities. This contributes to the implementation of a focused, forward-looking real estate policy that promotes the establishment of attractive companies and industries at this site and enables the formation of clusters.
